Slash Robotics Club Overall Winner Of MRC 2016

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 14 (Bernama) -- Slash Robotics Club has emerged as the overall winner of myMaker Robotic Challenge (MRC) 2016 of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), held in Cyberjaya Sunday.
Represented by eight members, Slash Robotics Club self funded all of their robots costing about RM10,000 for the competition.

MCMC Technology and Society Division senior director, Aisharuddin Nuruddin hopes via MRC 2016, the Internet of Things (IoT) robotics platform will be more accessible to students and communities, inspire communities on the importance of robotics technology and create a sustainable and fun robotics ecosystem."This event allows the young generation to experiment and challenge them to create awareness on the significant role of robotics technology towards the development of this country."This competition will encourage creativity and innovation among the younger generation and offer a platform for robotics hobbyists and also students to learn through competition against their peers," he said in a statement.

Supported by Malaysia Robotics Engineering Association (MREA), the myMaker Association and the Education Ministry, the competition saw participation from 216 teams in all categories with 860 participants from over 60 different schools, institutes and universities from all over Malaysia.The nine categories in MRC 2016 were IoT Robotics Challenge (Open), Combat Robot (Open), Tower Conquer (Open), Tower Defence (Open), Humanoid Robot Fighting (Open), Autonomous, Sumo Robot (Open), Self-balancing Sumo Robot (Open), RC Sumo Robot (Senior) and RC Sumo Robot (Junior).

This year's youngest participant was Hon Seong Zhen, 10, from SJKC Seremban won the RC Sumo Robot in the junior category (Under 12).
