SEA Makerthon Challenge is coming to KL


Cyberjaya, 9 Oct 2016 - The Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) in collaboration with myMaker Association and South East Asia Makerspace Network (SEAMNET) is organizing a two-day Malaysian leg of the SEA Makerthon 2016 event in Cyberjaya, begining today.

The SEA Makerthon 2016 is a series of makerthon events that encourage creative maker minds in Malaysia to pool their resources, work on ideas to create and innovate prototype solutions using recycle or reuse electronic material incorporating Internet of Things (IoT) for applications developments.

The events also gathers like-minded individuals to form a group in coming up with new products based on certain themes. It is also a platform for makers, designers , entrepreneurs, thinkerers and individual who aspire to become Change Makers. This is another initiative spreadheaded by MCMC in making the IoT part of way of life for Malaysians.

The theme for this inaugural makerthon event is 'Circular economy:Designing a world with zero waste.' Particpants can choose to compete in one of the three categories: 2nd life, Waste into Energy, and Track and Trace those waste. This edition of the Makerthon will see an estimated 100 participants pitching their ideas, building prototypes and solutions in 36 hours.

The winning team will represent MCMC myMaker for the grand finale of SEA Makerthon 2016 at InnovASEAN to be held in Singapore on 15-16 October 2016.
