KUCHING: A large turnout is expected today at Kuching Waterfront for the official opening of the three-day ‘Malaysia Inklusif Negara Digital (Minda) — a programme Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) — where Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is scheduled to officiate at.

A visit to the venue yesterday showed local and international participants getting ready for the launch, with almost all booths ready for today.

The programme here, which is the first leg of its nationwide tour, aims to educate members of the public on the ever-expanding digital world and its tools. The venue hosts around 60 booths set up by government agencies, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and those from the telecommunications sector.

“It is hoped that through this programme, it could build solidarity and lead the public via digital technology in the direction of unity; instead of using digital technology to incite negative emotions that would divide the people.

“Visitors can expect various activities at the programme. For those wanting to make registrations for MyKAD and birth certificates, they can just head to the Registration Department (JPN) booth.

“At the same time, they can make relevant enquiries from the friendly officers there,” the spokesperson for the organiser said.

The Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry has also sets its booth at Minda, with personnel ready to provide information on its function and also assist anyone wanting to lodge complaints.

At the Mynic Bhd booth, visitors can find out about its latest service ‘Business Online Bundle (BOB)’.

Mynic is an ‘Internet identity for all’ — either for brand recognition, reputation or just to stand out from the crowd.

“Internet identity has proven to be an important factor in today’s digital world. Mynic is the sole administrator for all web addresses ending with ‘.my’ in Malaysia,” a representative of Mynic said.

Those interested in robotics, the team from My Robot Education Sdn Bhd is ready to provide consultations to them and also show some demonstrations.

The company is the first centre for robotics in the country that provides ‘Arduino-based’ robotics course for primary and secondary school students, as well as robotics hobbyists.

There is also a ‘Food Fair-like’ section for those wishing to enjoy local food and beverages.
