Home Air Quality Monitor: AirBoxLab

AirBoxLab is a Paris based startup that wants to help you track and monitor the air quality in your home using their connected device and cloud service.

The core of their system comes from the cylindrical USB and WiFi powered sensor tower. The device can monitor basic temperature and humidity levels as well as track carbon dioxide and monoxide and more advanced readings for measuring particulate matter, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) like formaldehydes, benzene, ethylene glycol, and acetone.

This captured data is then sent to their server to be combined with weather forecasts, outdoor pollution data, as well as user proximity data to create a fully personalized air quality reading with feedback suggestions and alerts for a persons home.

All of the readings taken by the device can be monitored using your smartphone or desktop and as they scale the service the AirBoxLab team hopes to build a database of crowdsourced measurements to improve their analysis algorithm and help community members identify patterns in the data.

More details about the device and service can be found at: Airboxlab.com
