The Internet of Things is a web in which gadgets, machines, products, devices & inanimate objects share information in new ways, in real time.

The focused ecosystems in this period are Connected Healthcare, Traceability for food and drug, People Friendly Commuting; and Home & Community Living.

Digital Lifestyle eco-system development is promoted based on a model of collaboration or partnership with the industry.

DL Expo Objectives


  1. The Digital Lifestyle Pavilion will be the centre stage of activities during the Digital Lifestyle Expo 2013 which is organized by PIKOM in parallel with KL PC Fair 2013 and in collaboration with Go Mobile 2013.
  2. An anticipated visitor turnout capacity of around 130,000 – 150,000 people is expected to attend to the three (3) simultaneous events. This number provides a good exposure of digital lifestyle or ICT as a way of life to the public besides the business and corporate crowd (separate invitation) which is estimated to be about 500. It is a 3-day event from 23 – 25 August 2013 for corporate and business visitors.
  3. Special tours and briefings at the Corporate Meeting room be open on Friday 23 August 2013 (this to broaden opportunities for business communities to explore, assess, engage on the DL offerings) based upon availability.
  4. MCMC is promoting the Digital Lifestyle (DL) initiative premised upon on mass adoption and usage of ICT in our way of life. The DL concept approach defines six (6) basic lifestyle ecosystems namely learning, transport, health, entertainment, work, agriculture and district/community and is based on areas or activities whereby the infusion of ICT will improve and impact our daily life bringing with it socio-economic benefits.
  5. The theme for the event is “The Future Connected Lifestyle” whereby the harnessing of broadband ICT power would enable users (both corporate and public) to create, innovate and to be able to leverage on it for building new services which are scalable and turn creative and innovative ideas from across all lifestyle ecosystems to fill the gaps and meet citizens’ needs. Consequently, the event would also host a “Broadband Empowered Entrepreneur Awards” in recognition of innovative and creative efforts by empowered individuals towards generating ideas, new innovations and products by harnessing emerging technologies towards impacting national economic development and societal well-being.
  6. The exhibition would showcase content related to Digital Lifestyle (e.g. Smart Communities, Healthcare, Transportation, Get Malaysian Business Online (GMBO), Mobile Banking/Payment, Traceability, u-Pustaka, e-Government, creative content) spearheaded by MCMC as well as contents sourced from external vendors. In a nutshell, each specialised area of DL would showcase the activities, projects and applications which are seen to have the most potential, namely:
    1. Traceability – featuring retail outlet concept (supermarket) with high value goods/ pharmaceutical products/ Halal Food. This concept will be equipped with mobile applications for consumers tracing and mobile payment.
    2. Connected Healthcare – featuring telehealth applications and solutions such as Mobile Health Apps, Remote Patient Monitoring, Sensor-based e-health technologies for wellness.
    3. Home and Community Living – featuring applications and solutions for the environment at home and communities such as e-Agriculture (e.g. Supply and Demand Platform), Smart Community (e.g. e-Bistro, e-Laundry, m-Hawker), Local e-Learning (virtual learning, m-Tuition, u-Pustaka), Localised Community Advertising, e-Municipal (e.g. Snap & Report), entertainment ; and
    4. Travel and commuting – featuring People Friendly Commuting i.e. featuring applications and solutions for the industries and communities such as bus transportation information, e-Parking, taxis booking, fleet management, travel tips and rail information that makes travelling and commuting easy with real time info.
  7. MCMC is already in contact with key players in the industry who we will be invited and encouraged to join the event either in DLE 2013 itself or the associated fair/expo of Go Mobile and PC Fair.
